New Tidbits continued: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Vitamin D, Wireless device, Eye Candy
Wednesday, September 29th, 2010While studies continue on the amount of Vitamin D we need, one thing is for certain; we don’t get enough. The best way to absorb Vitamin D is through sun exposure, but there’s the risk of sun damage and skin cancer. Slathering on the suntan lotion limits what we absorb from the sun and northern climate people really lack the needed amount of D for bone health, colon cancer prevention, protecting the immune system, heart disease and mental health. 1,200 – 2,000 iu of Vitamin D3 supplement should boost you to where you want to be. Most people take D with toast, coffee and juice in the morning. TAKE NOTE: Vitamin D is best absorbed by taking your pill with your biggest meal of the day. Vitamin D is fat soluble, and absorption increases by 50% when taking it with your largest meal, which should include some fat.
If you have a Verizon wireless device for your laptop, be sure to unplug the device when you are “off” your computer. I was under the impression my time would stop accumulating when I “disconnected.” It was an expensive lesson when I received my bill after I had visited Canada. My roaming kept accumulating, even after I “disconnected” as processes continued because the device was still plugged in my computer. OUCH! A lesson learned the hard way …….
We are bombarded with super and Victoria Secret models, actresses who never seem to age, catalogs without a single “normal-size” person to be found. So I was thrilled with a little “eye-candy” for “the girls” with Daniel Craig as the new James Bond. His first movie was terrific; the second okay but still an opportunity to eyeball the edgy super-hunk. I was totally bummed when discovering MGM’s financial woes brought Craig’s third Bond movie to a halt. There’s talk Bollywood will bail out MGM, but I think it will be quite a while before we see Craig in 007 mode! Boo!
Last Spring, I heard “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” on the premium cable channel Starz, was the show to watch. While ordering my channels, I included Starz to see what the talk was about. Well the series lived up to the hype and Andy Whitfield, who played Spartacus, is a great actor and nice to watch for many reasons. Latest has the second season shooting postponed as Andy Whitfield is being treated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I was shocked to hear of his challenges. Prayers to Andy and his family during this difficult time. Gals, hold on to your seats while we wait for our guy to return to a healthy life and “Spartacus!”
Whew…had to get that off my chest!
