While the jury is still out on host Ricky Gervais (come on -he’s a British comedian!), I think we can agree that LA has found the Fountain of Youth. Hello Hollywood! It was a delight for sore eyes and refreshing from years of broadcast bad news that last Sunday we could revel in the magical sights of “the good life.” Ladies were gorgeous and gents handsome. Designers’ works haven’t looked this good on such happy faces for several years. Works of art indeed on fabric and skin: it’s like going to a museum!
While commentators have their follow-up shows and opinions (she looked gorgeous, that stylist should be fired, the hair didn’t fit the outfit), overall, The Golden Globes brought us back to what once was the “good ‘ole days” of Hollywood. With somber mood of war, natural disasters, hunger, bailouts and economy, the Hollywood genre tends to respectfully follow suit. But… enough is enough already! It appears they’ve pulled out all stops and are going forward with “my glass is half full, not half empty” optimism to give people something to talk and feel good about. What’s there not to like here? Eye candy. Free entertainment. More fun than watching a NFL football game…..well except for next Sunday’s NFC championship conference….ironic: here I am, Milwaukee born, raised- and in my blood….Lambeau Field I luv u Packer Fan , I just spent two days in Chicago….(what was I thinking?).. Enemy Territory !! Yikes!
Hey…Da Bear’s fans are afraid of our superior Green Bay Packer quarterback #12 Aaron Rogers, just as we dislike Bear’s defense. Ahem….. ah…yes moving on…..
Back to Golden Globes…
I don’t care what some people say; Halle Berry is a gorgeous woman! Geez Louise already! Her Nina Ricci dress only accentuates her good genes and hard work. There are very few women..ON THIS PLANET.. who can wear that SO successfully. Dear Lord, is she a perfect specimen or what? I want her body! I mean, I want to have her body as my body…..wow…that would be thousands of hours at the gym for me and still no guarantee!
Natalie Portman (2011 Golden Globe Award winner; Best Actress for Black Swan) shined in award energy AND her new loveR future Hubby, AND baby on the way! An Israel-American, Harvard graduate familiar with 4 languages, she has an impressive award winner war chest (u go girl!). I watched her disciplined ballet dancing in Black Swan, intense, but her 2011 Viktor & Rolf Golden Globe dress was perfect in reflecting the soft and human side of Natalie’s life. Good for you Natalie; I’m a big fan of hers with the 2004 Mike Nichols’ movie “Closer,” and I’m anxious to see her with hunky Ashton Kutcher in “No Strings Attached.” Meow………
During the show and Red Carpet, we watched the stunning ‘women in black’ and of course, the wonderful blush tones (for the beauties who can wear it but few and far between). Jennifer Lopez seems to grow more beautiful every year, and this year’s dress was perfect for her and her bodyshape. I really liked January Jones’ (Mad Men) red number and kudos to her; she can pull it off! I’m envious, ……..
Ryan Seacrest – I’m glad you’ve found time for a personal life, and nice to see your girlfriend! There has to be balance in life : Go for it! You’re a smart, sexy devil…. (I have a Seacrest Crush; try to say that 10 times!)
The best color on the Red Carpet? GREEN, GREEN, GREEN! Catherine Zeta-Jones (weren’t we glad to see and hear Michael Douglas?), Angelina Jolie, Mila Kunis (70’s show, voice of Meg Griffin on Family Guy, Black Swan), Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men to name a few. I love color and admire women who can wear and, pull it off!
One of my favorites: Anne Hathaway is blessed with beauty and brains and I think we’ll be seeing very much more of her in the future. Talent, beauty, smarts. I’m a fan !
Best Accessory: Baby bump.
Favorite Hollywood couple: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. She was Gorgeous in Green and Brad was.. well…you know, Brad. ah……
