Kate Spade at Nordstrom, Old Orchard Mall, North Shore Chicago.
Thursday, August 19th, 2010A few blogs ago, we looked at Kate Spade’s 2010 fall collection. On a recent trip to Chicago’s North Shore Old Orchard mall, Nordstrom had plenty of Kate Spade accessories to choose from. The Knightsbridge Darcy (Muse) bag was as lovely in person as in the print ads.
“There’s no place like home!” Kate Spade’s flats sparkle and are great walking shoes.
I recently purchased Kate’s button studs in the amber stone. Very pretty and reasonably priced!
Shopping for UGG Boots? See what’s at Nordstrom at the Old Orchard Mall
Tuesday, August 17th, 2010This time of year as we’re shopping for fall/winter, many of us will have to store our strappy sandals and address footwear. We recently drove to the northshore of Chicago; Nordstrom at the Old Orchard mall, has a fantastic display of the warm, comfortable UGG boots. There’s something here for everyone.
We’re diligent about extra water-proofing the sheepskin boots. They’ll last several years and take on a great patina look.
It’s Been A Whirlwind: More to Come!
Saturday, May 1st, 2010The eye-4-style site is under maintenance and I’m in the process of moving, but there’s so much talk about! Chicago’s Michigan Avenue; Worth Avenue in Palm Beach; The International Plaza in Tampa; The Waterside Shops in Naples, and today, The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I could have spent the day at Nordstrom! Macy’s and Saks, Bloomingdales and Michael Kors just to name a few others, are presenting great fashion for all body shapes and budgets. Fabrics, colors and styles are amazing! Cosmetics and skin care are just getting better. Always have to stop by the NARS counters and Elemis for skin care. I’m also delighted by the sales personnel. Always feel free to talk to them about merchandise and products. They are knowledgeable, pleasant and very helpful in taking care of the customer to find what they’re looking for. Smiles all around!

3.1 Phillip Lim preview of the Fall 2010 Collection at Nordstrom Michigan Avenue, Via C On Three on March 18
Friday, March 19th, 2010Phillip Lim understands women. “Walking the razor’s edge between the old Bowery and the new Park Avenue, Phillip Lim creates a versatile, modern wardrobe for fall. He envisions a woman who is confident in her contrasts, ready for business, but always up for fun.”
At the preview party Thursday night, between the glitz, music, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and undeniable energy and excitement, it was apparent Phillip’s clothing touches a wide range of women who appreciate beautiful fabrics and exciting design. The models were young, 6 feet and thin, but the attendees didn’t fit any particular profile of consumer. The customers were being fitted for his Fall line and putting in their orders. A follower of Phillip, Nancy Machonkin, is no bigger than a minute and his clothing compliments her age and body type. Many of the women present agreed: He brings flair to their wardrobe!
Next blog will be on some pieces in the collection that I thought were outstanding.

Monday, January 25th, 2010Alice & Olivia
A chic, head-turning silk look crafted with wide pleating below the waist that adds dimension and drama to the skirt. Princess seaming adds a tailored finish.
A week or so ago I blogged about keeping an open attitude when shopping. Some consumers think they can only go to Nordstrom, Macy’s, Target or they wouldn’t think of setting foot in Neiman Marcus, Saks or boutiques because they think they won’t be able to afford anything in the store. I explained this was a misconception and very limiting. If you’re a smart shopper, you’ll find beautiful clothing to fit your budget, everywhere. There are no stores off-limits for this gal!! I always look to see what the stores have to offer. Shopping from Target to Bergdorf Goodman and in between is a great way to expand your selections.
Case in point: Today I received an e-mail from Saks Fifth Avenue about a super sale. And here it is! The dress I’m wearing to the Grammy Awards! Now if you left click on the hyperlink I have above (Fortune Cookie Dress) (always underlined) you’ll see how super the sale is! (Darn for me, oh well). I tried the dress on again yesterday and it’s a winner. Now I’m probably 5 inches shorter than the model and the waist fits me at my natural waist, where here I think it looks a little high-waisted. Regardless of the price, I think it’s fabulous. Now I’d rather have paid the super sale price but this just goes to show ………
Nordstrom and Jimmy Choo. I’m in love!
Tuesday, January 19th, 2010I received a catalog from Nordstrom introducing:
JIMMY CHOO
CHOO 24:7
The Collection
There’s HOPE gals! The Jimmy Choo collection is offering beautiful shoes that we can wear without breaking our necks or developing calluses! Take the IRENA or ISABEL group for example. Hooray!

I was shopping with a friend at Nordstrom in Chicago last Fall and we were ready to splurge on fabulous shoes. We tried on shoes for 2 hours. The salespeople brought out pair after pair. Gorgeous shoes, but who could walk in them? We couldn’t figure it out. You reach a certain age or just need to actually walk in your shoes and you start to acknowledge what the “high of high” heels are doing to your body. Are the women who can afford the fabulous shoes finding what they want? A gal can wear any shoe for an hour, but with foot and back issues, we’re starting to realize our wasted dollars on 4′” stilettos that sit in our closet. Those beauties are for display, not for utility. (And that’s okay, but how many pair of those kind do we need? Tee hee!)
Some friends will say they can wear any heel height, but it’s sad to see them barefoot. We need these feet for life. Let’s be kind to them. While I loved SATC, Carrie Bradshaw almost did us a disservice with running for blocks in her Manolo’s. Is it realistic to expect there won’t be consequences? It’s not that I don’t have a closet full of shoes, but I’ve become pickier as time goes by. Comfort becomes a priority, otherwise, the shoes become a “donation.”
Check it out!
